Cuttack: A minor girl, who won accolades for her singing on social media, is now in need of help for treatment of her kidney ailment.
With a fascination for singing since childhood, 13-year-old Neha of Balighat in Puri used to draw appreciation from relatives and friends. But when she was 10 years, she became diabetic.
Her father, Pravat Sahu, a vegetable shop owner and mother Sujata consulted the doctors in Puri. Following treatment, Neha’s condition improved.
After she got control over diabetes, Neha returned to her childhood passion. With the help of her friends, she recorded her songs and released those on social media. In no time, she became a known face in the social media.
But her run of success was short-lived as her condition deteriorated and she became bed-ridden in July. Her legs and hands have stopped functioning properly. She has been diagnosed with kidney problem which needs costly treatment.
Her parents admitted her in Sishu Bhavan in Cuttack first. Now her treatment is underway in SCB Medical College and Hospital. Pravat has taken a house on rent at Shankarpur in the city for the treatment of her daughter.
With all their resources depleted, Neha’s parents are seeking help from whoever they can turn to. Some locals and social workers have extended help in providing medicine and money. But that has proved too little for the treatment of Neha who is sustaining on nasal feeding.
