Cuttack: In a tragic incident, two minor boys went missing while taking bath in the Kathajodi River near Khannagar in Odisha’s Cuttack on Sunday.
The boys have been identified as Om Ayush Barik (12) and Om Prakash Maharana (15), both residents of Bagala area of Bhagatpur in the city.
Sources said the two had gone to the river after attending a kirtan held on the occasion of Panchuka. However, they slipped and disappeared after being dragged deep into the water.
Locals searched for them but failed to trace the boys. They alerted the police and the Fire Service Department. Two teams from the Fire Service reached the spot and launched a search operation to trace the missing boys.
The search is being carried out using boats and scuba diving teams. Personnel from both the Fire Department and local police were present at the site, taking all necessary steps to locate the missing minors.
