New Delhi: An overnight addition of 37,148 positive cases took India’s COVID-19 tally to 11,55,191 on Monday.

India’s COVID-19 testing per million reached 10,179 and 23 States/UTs have recorded higher Tests Per Million than the national average, Health Ministry added.

According to Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 1,43,81,303 COVID-19 samples were tested, including 3,33,395 on Monday. The total number of testing labs in the country has increased to 1274 including 382 in the private sector. There are 651 real-time PCR based testing labs in the country including 253 private labs.

On a positive note, the number of recovered cases (7,24,577) surpassed active cases by 3,22,048.

Meanwhile, India witnessed a steady improvement in recovery rate to 62.72 per cent.

Maharashtra remained the worst-hit state with 3,18,695 active COVID cases, followed by Tamil Nadu (1,75,678) and Delhi (1,23,747). Here are the top 12 COVID-hit states with more than 26,000 confirmed cases:

The Health Ministry and the ICMR have further suggested a set of short-term and medium-term actions for state governments to enhance the country’s COVID-19 testing capacity.

The data from the national capital suggests that the COVID curve is flattening and Delhi ‘may have crossed the peak’, said AIIMS Director Dr Randeep Guleria, who is part of the pandemic monitoring core team in India, according to the media reports.

Meanwhile, the Centre has written to all states and union territories warning against the use of N-95 masks with valved respirators by people.
