4 Dead In ONGC Chopper Emergency Landing

Mumbai: Four of the passengers on the ill-fated ONGC helicopter which made an emergency landing in the Arabian Sea this afternoon have been declared dead.

The deceased — identified as Mukesh Patel, Vijay Mandloi, Satyambad Patra and Sanju Francis — were picked up by the Navy helicopter from the ONGC rig, where the incident took place, and taken to Pawan Hans airbase.

They were then rushed to Nanavati Hospital, where doctors declared them brought dead, Hindustan Times reported based on confirmation from senior Mumbai police officials.

The police will be registering accidental death reports (ADRs).

The chopper had six ONGC personnel onboard, one contractor working for the company, besides two pilots.

The helicopter was forced to land using floaters attached to such choppers that carry elmployees and material from shore to offshore installations.
