4 Scribes Succumb To COVID-19 In Odisha’s Ganjam

Berhampur: Four journalists of Ganjam district succumbed to COVID-19 in four days.

Informing about the unfortunate deaths, the Ganjam district administration on Friday requested media representatives to be more cautious during field reporting.

The journalists who lost their lives to coronavirus are: Govind Behera (25) Kukudakhandi block Correspondent of ‘Odisha Express’; Manoj Kumar Sahu from Chikiti of ‘Nitidin’; Karunakar Sahu (55) from Seragada of ‘Anupam Bharat’ and Naresh Behera from Chhatrapur of Odisha File. The family sources confirmed their deaths due to COVID.

Berhampur Press Club and Ganjam Press Club have condoled the death of these journalists who were infected by coronavirus while on duty.

District administration also condoled the death of these journalists and requested all journalists of Ganjam to abide by COVID guidelines of the government.

In November last year, a journalist with a vernacular news channel, Prabir Kumar Pradhan, had succumbed to COVID-19 infection. Prior to that, Buguda correspondent of a weekly Odia newspaper, a reporter of a leading vernacular daily in Ganjam district and another of Gajapati district, who was working with a Telugu newspaper, had also died of the disease.
