6 Students Injured In Group Clash In BJB College In Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar: At least 6 students were injured in a group clash on the premises of BJB Autonomous College in Bhubaneswar on Friday.
According to sources, while the internal examination of the MBA course was going on in the college, around 40 students went to new Arts block and attacked some students having affiliation to the Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).
In retaliation, the second group of students launched an attack and a violent clash ensued. Tension prevailed in the campus as the group continued for some time.
On being informed, a team from Badagda police station went to the college and dispersed the students. They also sent injured students to hospital.
Though the exact cause of the group clash has not been ascertained, it was reportedly a fallout of the differences between two groups of students having affiliation to ABVP and Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD), the students’ wing of ruling BJD in the state.
The injured students told the media that they were attacked by the BCJD group due to differences over formation of campus committee. As the BCJD has already formed the campus committee, it opposed the decision of ABVP to form its own committee, the said.
Admitting about the clash, Principal of BJB College, Gulam Moiuddin Khan said they would investigate into the matter. He ruled out any political rivalry in the incident.
