Bhubaneswar: In a major goof-up, the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) in Odisha has issued Matriculation certificate having same photograph to 69 students of a school in Cuttack district.
According to sources, the students of Asureswar 5T High School under Nishintakohili block of the district have been issued such certificate after they passed the second summative assessment.
They told the media that they were issued the admit cards for the first summative assessment (SA) bearing the photograph of the particular person. When they brought it to the notice of the school authorities, the latter assured the students of rectifying it in the second summative assessment.
“But the same error was found in the admit card for SA II. This time, the school authorities told them to affix their photographs on the admit cards and allowed them to appear at the examination. Now when we went to get the Matriculation certificates, the same photograph has been printed in the certificates of all of us,” the students said.
Now, the students face problem in getting admission into Plus II as the colleges are not accepting their Matriculation certificates. Rather, the students are accused of producing fake certificates, they added.
In his comment on the issue, vice-president of BSE Nihar Ranjan Mohanty said it might have been caused by technical problems. Steps are being taken to rectify the error, he added.
