Special Task Force To Check Extortion In Bhubaneswar, Cuttack
Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police will be launching a programme ‘Say No To Extortion’ to check the forcible collection of money from traders and businessmen by anti-socials in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack
Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi told the media on Friday that said the initiative will begin on October 19 with a special anti-extortion task force headed by Additional CP Rekha Lohani.
Sarangi said that those who inform about such extortion will be awarded and their names will be kept a secret. “We seek people’s cooperation, without which the initiative will not be successful,” he added.
He further said that a database on notorious extortionists will be created for exemplary action and a helpline number will be issued for the public.
Review meetings will be held every 15 days at PS level and DCP level, he added.
