Angul: In a rare show of defying social taboo, a youth got married to a transgender in the district.
According to sources, one Bablu of Kaniha tied the knot with the transgender Chinmayee at Budhithakurani temple to as per the Hindu tradition by following all the rituals. The ceremony was performed in adherence to COVID-19 restrictions with a limited number of people attending it.
The sources said Bablu and Chinmayee had met during a stage show a few years back and developed friendship. Soon their friendship brought them closer and they were involved in a romantic relationship.
Five years after their relationship, Bablu proposed to marry Chinmayee which the latter agreed.
