Ekamra Kshetra Bylaws Row: Bhubaneswar MP Accused Of ‘Insensitivity’ To Odisha’s Honour

Bhubaneswar: A delegation of BJD MPs met Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Coal and Mines Pralhad Joshi on Saturday to demand immediate withdrawal of the draft bylaws framed by the National Monuments Authority (NMA) for Ananta Basudev and Brahmeswar temples in Ekamra Kshetra in the city.

The delegation met the minister a day after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik requested all MPs from Odisha to take up the issue with the Centre.

However, BJP leader and Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi was not part of the delegation.

Pointing this out, BJD MP Anubhav Mohanty accused the saffron party of “being insensitive” to Odisha’s honour and sentiments.

“Personally requested Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi to join us, but she refused point blank. Regret BJP’s non-cooperation in a purely non-political issue concerning Odisha’s honour and spiritual sentiments,” Mohanty tweeted after the meeting.

In response, the Bhubaneswar MP tweeted, “Nothing is done without a reason. I will speak at the appropriate time. Please wait and watch. Regards.”
