Police Arrest 5 Persons & Detain A Juvenile For Murder Of Former Sarpanch In Odisha’s Ganjam
Berhampur: Nine days after a former sarpanch of Ganjam district was allegedly murdered, police have arrested five persons and detained a juvenile who were involved in the crime.
According to sources, the former sarpanch of Anatei panchayat Pradip Bisoyi was found murdered on Sukunda Road on November 5. Following investigation, all the accused were arrested.
Speaking to media persons, here on Sunday, Ganjam SP Pinak Mishra said after the police registered a case, two special teams headed by IICs of Digapahandi and Badabazaar under the supervision of Town SDPO were formed to investigate.
The teams’ investigation led to the arrest of the accused. Three swords used in the crime were also seized from a pond in Digapahandi after the arrested persons revealed where they had disposed the weapons.
Besides, 6 mobile phones and a motorcycle were also seized from the possession of the accused, he added.
The arrested persons have been booked under different Sections of the IPC and remanded to judicial custody.
