Odisha: 5T Secy Reviews Preparations For Hockey World Cup Opening Ceremony In Cuttack

Cuttack: Secretary to Odisha Chief Minister (5T) V K Pandian reviewed the preparations at Barabadi Stadium in Cuttack for the grand opening ceremony of the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023 to be held on Wednesday.

Besides inspecting progress of ongoing work, Pandian also took stock of the seating and security arrangements in the stadium and parking facilities outside the complex.

During a visit to the millennium city on Monday, Pandian also took stock of the proposed ‘fan parks’ to set up at 16 places in Cuttack. He further instructed officials to ensure that the inauguration ceremony is held without any hassles, sources said.

The 5T Secretary also emphasised the need of setting up of ‘fan parks’ in the city’s slums.

Sports Secretary R Vineel Krishna, senior BJD leader and OCA president Pranab Prakash Das, Cuttack collector Bhabani Shankar Chayani, CDA chairman Anil Samal, police commissioner Soumendra Priyadarshi and Cuttack DCP Pinak Mishra were among those present.

CMC Commissioner, Cuttack Mayor, Banki MLA, Chaudwar-Cuttack MLA were also present during the review.

The inauguration ceremony will be organised on Wednesday in Cuttack ahead of the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023 to be held in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela from January 13 to 29.
