Non-Veg Food Not Served At This Delhi College; Principal Not Sure About Decision
Delhi: A reputed college in the national capital is no longer serving non-vegetarian food to students in the canteen and hostel.
The college in question, Hansraj College under Delhi University, has not gone back to non-veg cuisine since offline classes resumed after COVID-related restrictions ended, ANI reported.
Professor Rama, the college Principal, wasn’t very sure about the decision to go veg and almost sounded non-committal as if he had no role to play.
“I don’t remember when exactly the serving of non-veg food was stopped. It was 3-4 years back, but the committee must have had a word with students before taking the decision and then the decision must have been taken to stop serving non-veg food,” said Prof. Rama.
Last year, there were clashes in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) after students belonging to Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) – a right-wing students’ organisation affiliated to RSS — allegedly stopped left-leaning students from consuming non-vegetarian food on Ram Navami.
ABVP students were accused of assaulting the mess secretary of JNU’s Kaveri Hostel. In their defence, ABVP alleged that left-wing students were interrupting Ram Navami prayers at Kaveri Hostel.
