Bhubaneswar: The old building of Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC) in Bhubaneswar as the state government plans to construct a new state-of-the-art Technology Business Tower in its place.
The proposed new building, to be constructed at a cost of around Rs 100-200 crore, will be equipped with adequate infrastructure and opportunities for collaboration and networking essential for fostering growth of technology-related companies in the city.
Besides the old building, OCAC has a seven-storey building constructed by IDCO at a cost of around Rs 46 crore. The building, which became operational in 2014, houses IT, ITeS and ESDM companies in Odisha. It has a total space of 1,57,206 sq ft of super built-up area, TNIE reported.
Considered a major IT hub, it hosts various IT and ITeS companies and also has a dedicated floor for IT/ITeS/ESDM startups with incubatory facilities. OCAC, the technical directorate of Electronics and IT department of the state government, is also functioning from the same building.
Sources said the new Technology Business Tower planned by the government will have about 3 lakh sq ft built up space to be used by both OCAC and IT firms and institutions.
An expression of interest (EOI) has been invited to engage a central PSU or state PSU as the project management agency (PMA) for construction of the tech tower. The PMA will oversee all aspects of the project, from conception to completion, and also be responsible for its detailed planning, coordination, execution, cost control and quality assurance.
The PMA will also help OCAC in establishment of seven tech business parks in different parts of the state, including one in Keonjhar district, the sources added.
