Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has put on hold all transfers and postings of Odisha Administrative Service (OAS), Odisha Revenue Service (ORS), and OMAS officers currently serving in Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) across the state.
The Housing and Urban Development Department issued the order in view of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll.
According to a notification issued on Wednesday, all such transfers and postings have been kept in abeyance with immediate effect until further orders. “In view of on-going Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Roll (SIR) in Odisha, the transfer and posting of OAS/ORS/OMAS officers working in different ULBs made in this Department Notification No.14550/HUD. Dt.26″ May, 2026 is hereby kept in abeyance until further orders with immediate effect.”
The Special Intensive Revision 2026 is a major exercise scheduled to run from May to September 2026. It includes extensive field-level activities such as house-to-house verification visits, special enrolment camps, filing of claims and objections, and various voter facilitation services. The process will continue until the final electoral roll is published on September 6.
The decision to suspend officer movements is aimed at ensuring administrative continuity and stability in urban local bodies during this critical period, as these officers play key roles in facilitating the revision process at the ground level, sources said.
