Bhubaneswar: Several parts of Odisha are likely to witness thunderstorm, lightning and gusty surface wind over the next five days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Monday.
The weather agency has issued orange warning of intense thunderstorm for some districts during next two days, while yellow alert has been sounded for several parts of the state during the subsequent three days.
Meanwhile, conditions are favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon into some more parts of southwest and southeast Arabian Sea, Lakshadweep Islands, some parts of Kerala & Tamil Nadu, some more parts of southwest, west-central, east-central and north-east Bay of Bengal, and remaining parts of southeast Bay of Bengal during next 2-3 days.
The IMD has forecast gradual rise by 2-4°C in maximum temperature (day temperature) during next 5 days and no large change thereafter over the districts of Odisha.
In its midday weather bulletin, the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar has issued an orange warning of thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching up to 50-60 kmph) for the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, and Gajapati during next 24 hours.
Similarly, a yellow warning has been issued for the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Cuttack, Bargarh, Deogarh, Koraput, Malkangiri, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, and Nayagarh during the period.
On June 2-3, the weather agency has issued an orange warning over the districts of Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj.
Likewise, a yellow warning has been for the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabrangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, and Nayagarh during the period.
