Patna: A late-night incident of vandalism and assault occurred on Tuesday at the coaching centre run by prominent educator Faisal Khan, popularly known as Khan Sir. According to police and coaching centre officials, a group of men entered the premises and attacked the centre’s security guard, who has been hospitalised due to injuries suffered. Police have launched an investigation and are examining CCTV footage to identify the suspects.
Immediate Response & Clarification
Khan Sir arrived at the coaching centre around 11:30 PM after learning about the incident and described the attackers as “anti-social elements” who had entered the premises and assaulted the guard. Initial media reports had suggested shots were fired. Police subsequently said the incident was only vandalism and no gunfire occurred. Equipment and property inside the centre were reportedly damaged during the attack, as reported by NDTV.
Suspicion On Rival Centres
Khan Sir said that thousands of students from his coaching centre were recently selected in the Bihar Police recruitment exam. A felicitation programme was organised for the successful students. He claimed that after the event, some people reached the coaching centre and threatened that it would be “blown up” within two days.
According to reports, Khan Sir also expressed suspicion that operators of some coaching centres could be behind the incident. He alleged that some people oppose his coaching centre because it provides affordable education. However, this could not be officially confirmed till the time of filing this report.
On Wednesday morning, students staged a protest outside the coaching centre, and police stepped up security in the area while investigations into the incident continued.
Evidence & Investigations
The coaching management handed over CCTV footage to police following the attack. The injured guard has reported that he can identify some of the assailants. Patna SSP Kartikeya Sharma said the initial probe indicates involvement of some students in the assault and the tearing down of posters.
