New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) activated its marks verification and re-evaluation portal for Class 12 students on June 2, 2026. The launch was delayed by a day and the site went down within hours, with many students facing technical glitches shortly after it opened.
Several students posted on X that the portal logged them out quickly with a ‘login request expired’ alert, saying they received a “verification failed” message even after entering correct details and completing the captcha, as reported by DNA.
CBSE Responds With Fixes
Responding to complaints, CBSE said it had implemented important improvements, including longer session durations, to enhance usability. “Based on student feedback, we have further refined the platform, including extending session time limits to make the process more convenient and seamless,” CBSE posted on X.
Board Reports Cyberattack
The board also said the re-evaluation portal was hit by a ‘malicious attack’ on Tuesday, with actors attempting to disrupt services. “While thousands of students accessed the CBSE re-evaluation portal today, malicious actors attempted to disrupt services through a barrage of cyberattacks,” the board said on X.
“The most recent being a denial-of-service (DoS) attack attempt, causing 1.5 million hits on the portal within a matter of two minutes and more than one lakh attempts at unauthorised file access,” it added.
Cybersecurity Firm Comments
Srinivas L, joint MD and joint CEO at 63SATS Cybertech — the cybersecurity arm of 63 Moons Technologies Limited — described the incidents targeting the CBSE portal as a “coordinated, two-pronged operation.”
Portal Now Stable; Deadline Unchanged
CBSE said the portal was handling nearly 14,000 concurrent users and had recorded over 28,000 successful submissions by 10 pm on June 2. The board added that the re-evaluation system is now functioning normally and urged students to submit requests before the deadline, noting that an extension may not be granted.
