Cuttack: In a fresh setback for Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Cuttack, two senior leaders have resigned from the regional party, alleging that they were neglected and sidelined in the organisation.
Sources said senior leaders Madhusudan Sahu and Ranjan Biswal, stated to be close associates of former MP Debashish Samantaray, have resigned from the primary membership of BJD.
The two leaders have sent their resignation letters separately to BJD president Naveen Patnaik.
While Sahu is a former deputy mayor of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), Biswal was a corporator in CMC from 2013 to 2018.

Ranjan Biswal, a close associate of Debashish Samantaray, has resigned from the primary membership of the BJD. He has sent his resignation to party president Naveen Patnaik, alleging that he was being neglected within the party.
The fresh jolt for the opposition party came barely ten days after Debashish Samantaray resigned from the primary membership of BJD as well as from his Rajya Sabha seat. He subsequently joined Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) in New Delhi.
