New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that the Indian Air Force (IAF) will be used to transport NEET question papers for the upcoming exam scheduled on June 21.
According to NTA director general Abhishek Singh, the decision has been taken in response to heightened concerns over exam security following earlier allegations of paper leaks that led to the cancellation of the previous examination cycle.
Singh said the involvement of the Indian Air Force marks the first time such a measure is being adopted for NEET or any major national entrance examination, underlining the priority being given to ensuring the integrity of the process.
Officials have stated that enhanced security protocols are being implemented across all stages of the examination, including the handling, storage, and distribution of question papers. The use of the Air Force is expected to create a more secure and tightly controlled chain of custody.
The NEET examination is expected to see participation from over 2.2 million candidates across the country, with arrangements being made at hundreds of centres nationwide.
Authorities have also directed district administrations and police forces to ensure foolproof arrangements on exam day, including strict vigilance at examination centres and coordinated inter-departmental security efforts.
The decision reflects a broader push by the government and NTA to restore confidence in the examination system and prevent any recurrence of malpractice incidents that have previously affected large numbers of students.
With the new security measures in place, officials said the focus remains on ensuring a smooth, fair, and transparent conduct of the NEET examination scheduled for June 21.
