The official bulletin from the Tamil Nadu Health Department identified the deceased as Rita Juanga from Kendujhar, who succumbed at 7 this morning. Others from the state, who lost their lives, are Subasi Juanga, Gumani Juanga (15), Phulomani Juanga, Shibani Juanga, Geeta Juanga, Champabati Juanga, Purnima Juanga, and Parbati Juanga. All belong to Juang community, a Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG). The other two victims are from Assam.

A total of 32 migrant works from Odisha were admitted to hospitals following the incident on June 21 at a private facility near Periyapalayam, affecting around 80 workers who were resting in nearby hostel rooms.

The tragedy predominantly affected migrant women workers from Odisha and Assam, many of whom were employed at the facility, which also provided on-site accommodation. The leak, believed to have originated from a pipeline or valve failure during routine operations, quickly spread across the premises, exposing dozens of workers to the toxic gas. The workers suffered severe respiratory distress and other symptoms.
