Bhubaneswar: Doctors affiliated to the Odisha Medical Services Association (OMSA) on Thursday agreed to call off its proposed strike following successful discussions with the state government.
The decision was taken at a fruitful meeting between OMSA leaders and Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling. OMSA had previously threatened a complete cease-work from July 1 and mass resignation over a 10-point charter of demands.
Officials said the meeting, held today at the Minister’s office chamber, marked a significant breakthrough as both sides engaged in open and solution-oriented discussions.
Mahaling gave due importance to the demands raised by OMSA and assured the doctors’ body that their issues would be examined thoroughly with positive action to follow.
Placing public health and patient welfare above everything else, the Minister urged OMSA to call off the proposed agitation. Responding positively to the government’s assurance, OMSA decided to suspend its stir immediately, an official statement said.
The association expressed its commitment to continue dialogue with the government while ensuring that health services across the state remain uninterrupted and accessible to the people.
