Baleshwar: All 15 fishermen, including three from Odisha, have been traced and rescued after they went missing nine days ago while on a fishing expedition off into the sea off West Bengal coast.
The fishermen, who had ventured into the sea from West Bengal’s Shankarpur Fishing Harbour on July 2, lost contact after their trawler became stranded near Kakdwip, triggering a large-scale search operation.
Among the 15 fishermen, three were form Odisha’s Baleshwar district. Functionaries of the Shankarpur Fisheries Committee in West Bengal have confirmed that the fishermen are safe after being rescued.
Following the incident, assistance from the Coast Guard was sought to trace the missing crew. As the search operation was intensified, authorities in both Odisha and West Bengal remained actively engaged in locating the missing fishermen.
After nine days of uncertainty, officials confirmed that all 15 fishermen had been traced and were safe, bringing relief to their families.
