Baripada: In view of heavy rain alert, schools across Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district will remain closed on Saturday as a precautionary measure to ensure safety of students.
The District Education Officer (DEO) of Mayurbhanj has directed all Block Education Officers (BEOs) to instruct the headmasters and headmistresses of all schools under their jurisdiction to keep the institutions closed for the day.
Officials said that the order applies to all government, government-aided and private schools from the primary to higher secondary levels.
The decision was taken following the direction of the Mayurbhanj Collector and District Magistrate.
Notably, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red warning for Mayurbhanj, predicting extremely heavy rainfall at one or two places over the district.
