Brahmapur: Two men were arrested after they allegedly assaulted traffic police personnel and defied a “No Entry” restriction imposed near Vishal Chhak in Odisha’s Brahmapur city. Their car was also seized.
According to Brahmapur Town Police, the incident occurred on Thursday evening when Traffic Constables R Sadananda and Sukumari Mallik were regulating traffic in view of ongoing Gate Bazar flyover work. A KIA car allegedly attempted to enter the restricted stretch.
When stopped, the occupants allegedly abused and assaulted Sadananda and later assaulted Mallik when she prevented them from proceeding through another “No Entry” route. Police said the occupants appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and also allegedly threatened the constable.
The arrested persons were identified as Anata Keshari Dev (35) of Dakhinapur and Sibaram Pradhan (39) of Dakhinapur.
Brahmapur Town Police registered a case under relevant provisions of the BNS, 2023, and the Motor Vehicles Act. The car was seized and further investigation is being conducted by ASI Nigam Chandra Pradhan.
