Bhubaneswar: The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the name of Justice Krushna Ram Mohapatra of the High Court of Orissa for appointment as the Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court.
The recommendation was made at the Collegium meeting held on August 6, 2026, according to a statement released by the Supreme Court on Tuesday.
Justice Mohapatra has been recommended for the post consequent upon the retirement of the incumbent Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court on September 4, 2026.
Justice Krushna Ram Mohapatra was elevated as a judge of the Orissa High Court on April 17, 2015. He had enrolled as an advocate with the Orissa State Bar Council on February 7, 1988, and has over two decades of experience in various branches of law, including civil, criminal, service and constitutional matters.
Justice Mohapatra has also served as Additional Standing Counsel for the State and the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) before his elevation to the High Court bench.
If the recommendation is approved, Justice Mohapatra will be officially appointed as the Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court.
