Bijepur By-Polls: Congress ‘Concedes’ Early Defeat

Bargarh: While campaigning has intensified for the Bijepur Assembly by-election on October 21, Congress has virtually surrendered to the other two contestants, BJD and BJP.

Senior Congress leader Suresh Routray on Thursday admitted that he didn’t see any winning prospect for his party

“I have been campaigning in Bijepur for the last four days. What I have observed is that there is a Naveen wave in the entire constituency. Going by the number of flags and posters put up by the ruling BJD in this constituency, is beyond our reach,” Routray told the media.

“All the money is now in the hands of Narendra Modi and Naveen Patnaik, while Congress is virtually penniless. Can you win an election without money? How can we get votes without money? When we know that our party has no chance of winning the election, why should we indulge in tall talks? After all, Naveen is having a gala time now and he has become the Chief Minister for five terms without any effort,” the Congress leader added.
