Ahmedabad: An Air India flight carrying around 250 passengers crashed near the Ahmedabad airport on Thursday, reports claimed.
The incident is believed to have occurred when the flight was taking off for Gatwick Airport, London. An airport official said the flight fell on ground outside the airport perimtere in Ahmedabad immediately after take-off. “AI-171 also gave a MAYDAY call but thereafter no response was given by the aircraft to the calls made by ATC,” an official said.
According to reports, heavy smoke was visible from Dharpur near Meghaninagar area.

The fire brigade has rushed to the spot. Emergency response teams are being mobilised.
However, authorities are yet to confirm the cause of the crash.
According to the flightradar24, the last signal from the aircraft was received at 08:08:51 UTC, just seconds after take off. The aircraft involved is a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner with registration VT-ANB.
