New Delhi: Go First airline, which left 55 passengers behind at Bengaluru airport earlier this month, has been fined Rs 10 lakh by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

On January 9, the Go First flight G8116 from Bengaluru to Delhi took off with their luggage but sans 55 passengers.

Many of the fuming passengers took to social media to complain that they had their boarding passes after checking in their luggage, but were allegedly left stranded on the tarmac.

DGCA issued a showcause notice to Go First asking as to why enforcement action should not be taken against the airline for dereliction of regulatory obligations.

In its reply, submitted on January 25, Go First stated that there was improper communication and coordination between the terminal coordinator (TC), commercial staff and crew regarding boarding of passengers onto the aircraft.

DGCA imposed the fine on the airline for failing to ensure adequate arrangements for ground handling, preparation of load and trim sheet, flight dispatch and passenger/cargo handling.
