Mumbai: Actor Ajaz Khan, who rose to fame after his stint in ‘Bigg Boss 7’, has landed in legal trouble for the obscene content in the web show ‘House Arrest,’ hosted by him.
Mumbai police have registered an FIR against the host and producer of the show, Rajkumar Pandey, over the alleged obscene content, as per a report in India Today.
The complainant, Bajrang Dal activist Gautam Ravriya, alleged that vulgar language and obscene acts performed in the show outraged the modesty of women.
“Based on a complaint lodged by Gautam Ravriya, police registered a case against actor Ajaz Khan, producer Rajkumar Pandey of ‘House Arrest’ web show and other persons from Ullu app,” an official of Amboli police station said.
“The complainant mentioned that he received several complaints about the vulgar content of the show and that many people sent personal messages to him to complain about it,” he added.
The producer and the host of the show have both been charged under sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Information Technology Act and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.
In video clips from the show, which have gone viral, Ajaz is seen asking the contestants, including women, to show different sex positions.
One enraged user tweeted, “What is wrong with this man? Why is he behaving like this. This is seriously concerning and a total damning of our culture.”
Another wrote, “We call for stern action against this buffoon @AjazkhanActor for encouraging utter obscenity on his show #HouseArrest. Ban this show at once.”
“This needs to stop. We need to take serious action against this man,” demanded one.
Meanwhile, re-sharing the viral clips from the show, Jharkhand MP Nishikant Dubey tagged the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and wrote, “Yaha nahi chalega. Hamari committee iss par karwaai karegi. (This is not going to be allowed here. Our committee will take an action against it.”
Ratcheting up the issue at the policy level, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi posted, “I have brought this in the Standing Committee—that apps such as Ullu App and Alt Balaji have circumvented the I&B ministry’s ban on obscene material. I am still waiting for their reply.”
Demanding an immediate ban on the show, Maharashtra BJP MLC Chitra Wagh said, “Ajaz Khan, who calls himself an actor, has created a show called ‘House Arrest’, which is nothing but the epitome of obscenity. Clips from this show, streamed on the Ullu app, are now circulating freely on social media, and they are extremely vulgar.”
As the news became viral, #BanHouseArrest started trending on social media platforms.
Following the controversy, the show has been pulled down from the streaming platform Ullu app.
However, the host or the producers of the show is yet to release any statement.
