Amit Shah To Dine At Sourav Ganguly’s House; What’s On The Menu?
Kolkata: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be visiting BCCI president Sourav Ganguly’s house on Friday night.
There had been speculation about Shah having dinner at the former Team India captain’s Behala residence during his three-day trip to West Bengal. Ganguly himself confirmed the news on Friday.
“He has accepted my invitation… I’ve known him for long and his son Jay Shah works with me in BCCI… It’s just a courtesy visit,” Ganguly said, before questions of his joining BJP cropped up.
It may be recalled that there were strong rumours of Ganguly taking the plunge ahead of last year’s Assembly polls in West Bengal.
So what will be the menu tonight?
“There will be vegetarian items as he’s a veg… and Bengali sweets,” Ganguly said.
West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee had suggested that Ganguly should Shah to mishti doi (sweet curd), which is a special delicacy of the state.
Before proceeding to Ganguly’s house, Shah attended a cultural programme titled ‘Mukti-matrika’ at Victoria Memorial Hall, organized by the Union Ministry of Culture. The programme featured a dance show by Sourav Ganguly’s wife Dona Ganguly and her troupe, Diksha Manjari.
The programme has been organized in the backdrop of UNESCO acknowledging Bengal’s Durga Puja in the list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, and centenary year celebration of Victoria Memorial Hall.
