Mumbai: Actor Narayani Shastri has made explosive revelations about the entertainment industry, claiming that drug use is far more common than many people realise.
Without naming anyone, she alleged that substance use is often normalised within entertainment circles and claimed to have witnessed it firsthand.
The actor further revealed that entertainment industry parties once had a designated budget for alcohol, but now reportedly set aside funds for illegal drugs.
During her recent appearance on Siddharth Kannan’s YouTube channel, Narayani spoke about the growing drug culture in the entertainment industry and admitted to having experimented with
“Earlier, there would be a budget for alcohol at parties. Now there’s a budget for drugs. I was shocked when I saw this. That’s why I stopped partying many years ago, because now the parties are not about dancing; they are something else completely… I don’t know these people personally who do drugs but I have seen people doing stuff,” she said.
When asked what kind of drugs are done at these parties, she revealed “cocaine and MDMA is common.”
The actor claimed that drug use is generally kept under wraps at large parties, while smaller gatherings are more open about such activities, with “everyone knowing that everyone does stuff.”
She added that such consumption is not carried out openly at bigger events.
Admitting that she too has experimented with illegal drugs, she said, “I have done everything in my life but I have done it as an experiment, to see what happens when you do something”.
She clarified that she never became addicted, claiming that she had experimented with drugs only once.
The actor also revealed that she had consumed alcohol just once, explaining that she wanted to know its effects in case someone ever spiked her drink.
On work front, Narayani became a household name with her roles in serials such as ‘Piya Ka Ghar’ and ‘Kyun Ki…’.
