New Delhi: It’s scary as there’s almost an earthquake every second day – all of them in east and south-east Asia.
On Friday evening, a quake of magnitude 5.0 struck Nepal. Tremors were felt in parts of north India too.
According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the earthquake struck at a depth of 20 km at 7.52 pm (local time).
There were no immediate reports of any major damage.
A massive earthquake measuring 7.7 on Richter scale devastated Myanmar on March 28. Over 3,000 people were killed, 4,500 injured and 341 are missing. The quake was felt strongly in neighbouring countries like Thailand, China, Vietnam and parts of India too. There were a dozen deaths in Thailand, and a few buildings collapsed as well.
On April 2, Japan’s Kyushu was rocked by a 6.2 magnitude quake.
