New Delhi: A 40-year-old farmer committed suicide at the Singhu border site where the farmers are protesting on the outskirts of the national capital. Identified as Amarinder Singh, the farmer was a resident of Fatehgarh Sahib in Punjab.
The farmer apparently consumed poison at the Singhu border. He was immediately rushed to a hospital in Sonepat where he died around 7.30 pm on Saturday, reported India Today.
Haryana Police was intimated about the incident around an hour before Amarinder Singh’s death. Cops have launched a probe into the matter.
Earlier in January, another farmer committed suicide at the Ghazipur border protest site. He was identified as Kashmir Singh (75), a resident of Rampur district of Uttar Pradesh.
