Another Lockdown In Odisha? A Possibility, Warns Minister
Bhubaneswar: Given the renewed rise in COVID-19 cases in some states, will the Odisha government impose a lockdown?
That is a possibility if the situation worsens in the state, replied Health and Family Welfare Minister Naba Kishore Das on Tuesday.
“If people strictly adhere to COVID appropriate behaviour, the imposition lockdown will not be required. But if the situation worsens and there is a surge in COVID-19 cases, we will be forced to impose a lockdown,” the minister told the media.
Das informed that that the government is keeping a strict vigil across the state. The Health and Family Welfare Department has also directed all District Collectors and SPs to ensure and enforce COVID appropriate behaviour in their respective districts, he added.
The Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has also written to all Collectors, Municipal Commissioners and SPs for strict enforcement of norms like wearing masks, using sanitizers, maintaining social distance, avoiding crowds, etc., he said.
