Bengaluru: Karnataka is all set to get its new chief minister, DK Shivakumar. The date chosen for his swearing-in has led to speculations. According to reports, he will take oath on June 3. But what’s so special about this date? If reports are to be believed, Shivakumar has decided this date after consulting with his astrologer.
Sources cited in a NDTV report claimed that a Congress delegation led by Shivakumar would meet Governor Thawarchand Gehlot on Saturday to discuss the oath-taking with him.
Sources, as mentioned in the report, said the ceremony would be a simple affair. The outgoing chief minister Siddaramaiah had resigned on Thursday.
According to the report, Shivakumar is a very religious person. He has the date for swearing in after consulting the astrologer, Bellur Dwarakanath, who has declared the day to auspicious as per ‘muhurat.’
There is also another factor, sources told NDTV. The availability of Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, who is expected to attend the ceremony, has also been considered.
Reports claimed two deputy chief ministers are also likely to take oath along with Shivakumar. Sources indicated that Siddaramaiah’s son Yathindra Siddaramaiah is likely to get an important portfolio.
These developments come after earlier power tussle between Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar.
