Hyderabad: Actor Naga Chaitanya has approached the Delhi High Court against online content and defamatory claims alleging that he cheated on his ex-wife Samantha Ruth Prabhu.
The legal move comes amid continued circulation of unverified narratives surrounding the former couple’s separation.
According to reports, the actor has raised objections over the alleged unauthorised use of his name and image across multiple online platforms and has expressed concern over AI-generated content, unauthorised merchandise and pornographic material allegedly being circulated online using his identity.
Naga, through his petition, has sought court intervention to restrain third parties from using his name, image and persona without prior permission, reported Hindustan Times.
Advocate Vaibhav Gaggar, representing Naga, told the court that several websites were allegedly using the actor’s name alongside explicit search terms to drive user traffic and increase online visibility.
The counsel argued that such content amounted to a misuse of the actor’s identity and had the potential to damage his reputation.
Justice Jyoti Singh observed that the level of scrutiny faced by public figures is disappointing.
“You are in public life, you are certainly more vulnerable than the rest of the people, but it has its limitations,” he said.
Chaitanya’s legal team also raised concerns over online content related to his personal life, especially his previous marriage to Samantha.
The lawyers told the court that several posts and videos circulating online allegedly portray Chaitanya as having cheated on Samantha and being responsible for harming her career.
According to the actor’s legal team, such allegations are defamatory and damaging to his public image.
“This is trolling, this is not fair criticism,” advocate Gaggar said.
The Delhi High Court will examine the actor’s plea to determine legal protections that may be extended against the alleged unauthorised use of his personality rights.
The next hearing is scheduled to take place on September 30.
