Bahuda Yatra: Curfew In Odisha’s Puri District For 48 Hours From June 30

Puri: With the Bahuda Yatra in Puri scheduled to be celebrated on July 1, the district administration on Saturday said the curfew in the entire district will remain in force for 48 hours from the night of June 30 in view of COVID-19 situation.

Briefing the media here, Puri collector Balwant Singh said the curfew in the district will remain in force from 10 pm on June 30 to 10 pm on July 2.

He said in order to prevent large congregation of the devotees on the Bada Danda (Grand Road), there will be restrictions on the movement of people and vehicles from July 1 till the Niladri Bije of the Lords on July 4.

“To ensure that nobody from outside Puri district enters the Pilgrim Town, specific instructions have been issued to the hotels and lodgings not to allow any guest to stay during the four days,” the collector said.

He also requested the residents of Puri town to watch the Yatra on TV in their homes.
