Berhampur: The trainees from different trades of ITI, here have created an e-waste sculpture, claimed to be the tallest in the country.
The trainees from Electrician, Electronics and Painter trades of the government ITI have fabricated and designed the sculpture from electronic waste such as toys, PCB, printer, printer cartridge, RAM, keyboard, mouse, monitor, mobile phone, CD player, TV, VCR and others collected from Berhampur city.
Titled ‘ROBO, the sculpture is 30 ft in height and weighs 3 ton. They claimed that it is the highest e-waste sculpture in the country. They have created it in order to put across the message to reconnect with Mother Earth by being responsible in scientific management of electronic waste (e-waste).
Lauding the efforts of the ITI students, Dr Rajat Panigrahy said now they will act as warriors to protect Mother Earth from e-waste. Dr Arun Padhi, retired chief engineer and president of Institute of Engineers also highly appreciated their achievement.
Around 100 engineers from the Institute of Engineers and different government departments were present on the occasion of the inauguration of the unique sculpture.
