Kalahandi: Vigilance sleuths conducted raids on the properties of Bhawanipatna Municipality Assistant Executive Engineer Samir Kumar Thakur in Odisha’s Kalahandi district on Wednesday on charges of possessing disproportionate assets.
According to sources, a 25-membered vigilance team of Jeypore led by five DSPs, six Inspectors, and other staff members, are conducting simultaneous raids at a three-storey building at Mahavirpada and a residential house of a relative of Thakur, located at Marwaripada in Bhawanipatna, and his office chamber of Thakur inside Bhawanipatna Municipality.
The anti-corruption team conducted the raids under the orders of the Special Vigilance Court. Notably, Thakur has been working at the Bhawanipatna municipality office for the last 30 years.
During the house searches following are the unearthed assets in the name of Thakur and his family members:
1) A triple-storey building constructed over a plinth area of about 1700 sqft. area vide Khata No. 1458/1462, Plot No.1922/2027, 1921/2026 and 1915 at Mahavirpada in Bhawanipatna.
2) A double-storey building constructed over a plinth area of about 2500 sqft. area over Khata No. 2, Plot No.208 at Irrigation Colony in Bhawanipatna.
3) 3 plots in and around Bhawanipatna.

i) A piece of land measuring area Ac.0.08 dec. of land vide Khata No. 2, Plot No.208 at Mouza- Bhawanipatna.
ii) A piece of land measuring area Ac.0.10 dec. of land vide Khata No. 171/2272, Plot No.575/3611 at Mouza-Paramanandapur, Bhawanipatna.
iii) A piece of land measuring area Ac.0.5 dec. of land vide Khata No. 171/1418, Plot No.171/2684 at Mouza-Paramanandapur, Bhawanipatna.
The measurement and valuation/assessment of the above buildings/plots is being carried out by Vigilance Technical Wing.

5) Bank and Insurance deposits over Rs.40.93 Lakhs.
6) Gold jewellery 244 Gms.
7) A four-wheeler (Hyundai i-20)
