Bhubaneswar: A state-of-the-art CO2 laser machine for ENT and cancer surgeries was inaugurated at Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) by KIIT, KISS and KIMS founder Dr Achyuta Samanta.
Highlighting the wide-ranging capabilities of the new equipment, head of ENT department Dr Kabikanta Samantaray said: “The CO2 laser is one of the most advanced tools in ENT and cancer surgery. With this latest and best-in-class technology, we can perform all types of microsurgeries, including voice surgeries and complex vocal cord procedures.”
Dr Samantaray explained that the laser allows for precise, bloodless operations, especially in tongue, cheek, and vocal cord cancers.
“It is effective for both early-stage and advanced cancers. This technology ensures better outcomes and faster recovery for patients,” he added.
He stressed that affordability and accessibility are key priorities at KIMS. “While people often travel to cities like Mumbai or Delhi for laser surgeries — incurring high treatment and accommodation costs — we are now offering the same high-quality laser surgeries here at KIMS for just Rs 30,000,” Dr Samantaray stated.
The laser-based treatments will be available 24×7, providing continuous care for patients. “There is a growing demand for laser surgery, and with this facility, we aim to offer enhanced quality of life through precise and minimally invasive treatment,” he affirmed.
Senior functionaries of KIMS, including KIMS Principal Prof. Dr R C Das and Medical Superintendent Dr Manas Ranjan Behera were present at the inaugural function.
