BMW on Thursday launched its top of the line new generation SUV – the X7 along with the 7-series facelight in India.
The X7 comes in 2 variants – xDrive40i (petrol) and xDrive30d (diesel). The petrol is powered by a 3.0-litre straight-six, turbocharged engine that produces 340hp power and 450Nm torque. The diesel has a 3.0-litre straight-six turbocharged engine producing 265hp power and 620Nm of torque. The cars come with an 8-speed automatic transmission and BMW’s xDrive four-wheel drive system.
The new X7 takes design cues from the other new-generation BMWs while retaining its large signature kidney grille.
The interior gets 3 rows of seating for the 1st time – a great selling point for India. There is a new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with gesture control and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, ambient lighting options, in-built perfume, four-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, powered and ventilated seats, massage seats, rear touchscreens, lane monitoring and self-leveling adaptive suspension, laserlight headlamps, park assist (autonomous parking) and a reclining function for all the three rows.
The X7 is available in six and seven-seat configurations.
The 7-series sedan has received a facelight and is available at a starting price of Rs 1.22 crore, going up to Rs 2.42 (ex-showroom Delhi). It gets the same engines as the X7 albiet a hybrid option. The hybrid option, which churns out 300 bhp power, comes with a claimed 39.2 kmpl fuel efficiency number.
