From Deepika Padukone To Sushmita Sen: Bollywood Actresses Who Have Been Victims Of Sexual Abuse

Mumbai: Around 88 rape cases are being reported in India every day. Bollywood actresses have also faced sexual abuse at various stages in their life.

Many top-notch actresses have dared to open up about the horrifying molestation incidents which they have faced in their life.

Here’s a list of actresses who bounced back after being victims of sexual abuse:

Deepika Padukone: The ‘Padmavat’ actress was molested when she was just 14 – 15 years old. Divulging details of the incident, Deepika said, “I remember one evening my family and I were walking down the street. We had probably finished eating at a restaurant. My sister and my father walked ahead and my mother and I were walking behind. And this man brushed past me. I could have, at that point, ignored, pretended like it didn’t happen. I turned back, followed this person, caught him by the collar – I was 14 – in the middle of the street slapped him and walked away.”

Sushmita Sen: The actress revealed that she was molested at an award function by a 15-year old boy. But she didn’t let the molester escape easily. Reportedly, the bold and beautiful actress grabbed him by his neck, pulled him out of the crowd and warned him with dire consequences.

Sonam Kapoor: The actress revealed that she faced sexual abuse at the age of 13. The horrific incident took place at the Gaiety Galaxy Theatre in Mumbai. Divulging the details, Sonam said, “There was a man who came from behind and just held my breasts like that. And obviously, I didn’t have breasts at that time. I started shaking and shivering and I didn’t know what was going on and I started crying right there.”

Zaira Wasim: The actress was molested by a middle-aged man on a flight between Delhi and Mumbai. Opening up about the incident, Zaira said that the molester touched her inappropriately with his foot when she was half-asleep.

Swara Bhasker: The ‘Rasbhari’ actress revealed that despite security, she was groped at the Rajkot airport during the shoot of Salman Khan starrer ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’. It was veteran actor Anupam Kher who came to her rescue during the unfortunate incident.

Kalki Koechlin: The actress had opened up about the traumatising incident during an interview on television. She revealed that she was sexually assaulted when she was just 9-years old.

Bipasha Basu: The actress revealed that she was molested at a night club in Mumbai while promoting ‘Jism.’ Reportedly, when Bipasha entered the night club with John, a stranger fondled her and tried to escape. However, John caught hold of him and thrashed him black and blue.

Fatima Sana Shaikh: The ‘Dangal’ fame actress revealed that she was sexually abused when she was just three years old.
