Mumbai: The Bombay High Court has designated two special fast-track courts in Nagpur and Aurangabad to handle cases related to examination paper leaks and malpractices in public tests, according to reports.

The decision comes at a time when the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has promised tighter legislation and fast-track courts to ensure swift, strict punishment for paper leak offenders.

The special courts will conduct trials under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. The 2024 law mandates concluding trials within three months, reported Hindustan Times.

Judge SV Pawar will preside over the court in Aurangabad and Judge Gulshan Kolte in Nagpur, the HT report claims. The Union government requested the appointment of experienced judicial officers to preside over the courts.

The courts will adjudicate cases registered under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, alongside provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.

Under the framework of the 2024 Act, trials before these courts are mandated to be completed within three months.
