Bhubaneswar: Coal India Limited (CIL) has issued a tender for an 80 MW / 320 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Odisha through a complete engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) mode.
It has issued the tender on behalf of its subsidiary, Mahanadi Coalfields Limited.
The BESS project is spread across four locations — Bhatli, Basta, Padampur and New Balangir — in the state and comes with 15 years of comprehensive operation and maintenance (O&M). It has sought bids until October 9, 2026.
For developing the BESS infrastructure and the associated power evacuation system, the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor under this tender will be required to undertake the entire scope of work.
The EPC contractor will be required to set up a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) to make the energy storage facility available to GRIDCO on an “on-demand” basis.
