Cold Wave To Sweep Odisha For Another 2 Days; 6 Districts Under Yellow Warning

Bhubaneswar: Even as the mercury plummeted to 2 degree Celsius at Similiguda in Koraput district, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday said that the cold wave conditions will continue in Odisha for another two days.

“Northwesterly/northerly dry and cold wind at lower levels penetrating over Odisha and under its influence isolated cold wave is very likely over some parts of Odisha during next two days,” the MeT office said in its midday bulletin.

Cold wave is likely to prevail at one or two places in Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar and Angul till 8.30 am on Monday. Yellow warning has been issued for Jharsuguda, Deogarh and Angul during the subsequent 24 hours.

The night temperature is likely to remain 3-5 degree Celsius below normal at many places during the next two to three days and it will gradually rise by 2-3 degree Celsius in the subsequent period, it added.

Notably, 21 places in the state recorded a night temperature below 10 degree Celsius in the last 24 hours. The mercury dropped to 10.5 degree Celsius and 11.5 degree Celsius at Bhubaneswar and Cuttack respectively.
