Commissionerate Police To Deploy Drones For Effective Surveillance In Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police is all set to deploy advanced drones for effective surveillance and other policing activities in Bhubaneswear.
Deployment of drones will play a significant role in checking criminal activities in the city through constant monitoring from the skies. They will make it easier for the police to keep an eye on street crimes.
Bhubaneswar DCP, Prateek Singh said that the Commissionerate Police is now relying on technology to strengthen law and order, surveillance and crowd management.
The Comimssionerate Police has inducted advanced drone whose range is 5 km and it can keep track of activities from 500 metres height, the DCP said.
The advanced drone will be used for traffic management and surveillance during rallies, gheraos and other international events in the state capital.
Earlier, police personnel were deployed on rooftops during VVIP visits and other programmes to law and order situation. The drone technology will now be helpful in this regard, he said. Drones will also be used during festivals for surveillance and better traffic management.
While one drone has been brought so far, more will be procured later after reviewing its utility.
