Contempt Of Court: Varsha Priyadarshini Moves HC Against Anubhav Mohanty
Cuttack: Actress Varsha Priyadarshini has again moved the Orissa High Court, accusing Odisha MP from Kendrapada Anubhav Mohanty of violating the court’s directive by sharing opinions on social media.
On May 27, the HC had passed an order, restraining the estranged couple from posting anything on social media against each other, while hearing a petition filed by Varsha. She had sought orders to stop ‘fake and hate campaigns’ against her on social media after Anubhav shared multiple videos on social media on their strained marital relationship. The next hearing on this matter was posted for July 4.
On June 10, the actress had petitioned Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) court, alleging that Anubhav has been targeting her indirectly despite the HC’s directive and spearheading a hate campaign against her.
Prior to knocking on the court doors, the actress had also lodged a complaint with Cyber Police Station, alleging that her husband was trying to tarnish her image and defame her on social media. In her complaint at Purighat police station, she had accused Anubhav of posting fabricated stories about her.
Notably, the actor-turned-politician had released the first video titled, ‘Untold Story’ on May 19 and the other two on May 21 and May 24 respectively. In the fourth video released on the day the court passed the restraining order, Anubhav requested everyone to love their parents and shared about the new house in which he and his family are currently staying on rent since Varsha is occupying his parental house at Nandi Sahi in Cuttack.
In the last video shared on June 7, Anubhav told his fans that “he was living a dead man’s life and that he did not fear death anymore.”
He talked about another actress who had spoken out against him and questioned his character and his behaviour towards women in the video shared prior to this.
Anubhav had also written to Enforcement Directorate over alleged tax evasion by Vasha through ‘multiple identities’.
It is pertinent to mention here that the MP filed for divorce in the Patiala House Court in New Delhi in July 2020. This was revealed after Varsha filed a case of domestic violence at the Cuttack Sub-divisional Judicial Magistrate (SJDM) court on August 7, 2020, accusing the actor of torturing her physically and mentally.
