3 Jamaat Returnees Test COVID-19 Positive In Odisha; 15 Cases Detected On Single Day

Bhubaneswar: People of Odisha are in a state of panic as the number of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) positive cases went up to 20 on Friday with 15 patients being detected on a single day.

The 15 positive cases include seven persons who had come in contact with the 6th patient from Surya Nagar. They are his wife, daughter and five persons, who are staying in his house on rent.

Besides, three persons from Bomikhal area, one each from Cuttack, Puri and Jajpur and two from Bhadrak have also tested positive, said the Health & Family Welfare Department in a tweet.

The Department has requested the people, who had attended the Tablighi Jamaat at Nizamuddin in New Delhi, not to panic and hide. Instead, they should voluntarily call 104 and give detailed information about their travel and contact history,

The department has also requested the people to inform 104 if they have any information about such persons.

Meanwhile, the surveillance teams of the Health and Family Welfare Department have intensified the search for the persons who had come in contact with the three Nizamuddin-returnees.

It may be mentioned that out of 28 persons from Odisha, who had attended the Jamaat, one each from Cuttack, Puri and Jajpur districts have contacted the infection.
