Paris: France and Germany have decided to bring back restrictions to control what is seen as a second wave of coronavirus infections.
Curfew will imposed in Paris, Lyon and seven other cities from Saturday.
“We have to act. We need to put a brake on the spread of the virus,” France President Emmanuel Macron said, announcing shutdown from 9 pm to 6 am for six weeks.
In Germany, Chancellor Angela Merkel announced tougher measures on gatherings and mask-wearing.
“I am convinced that what we do now will be decisive for how we come through this pandemic,” she said, quoted France 24.
